The 58-storey Menara Carigali skyscraper is currently under construction on a plot of land known as Lot C KLCC, measuring 1.06 acres (4,300 m2) adjacent to KLCC Kuala Lumpur. The building will feature a 6-level extension to the Suria KLCC shopping mall with the rest of the floors above comprising office spaces. Once completed, Menara Carigali will be made the headquarters of Petronas Carigali, the E&P subsidiary of Petronas. Along with the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and the Binjai condominium, development of Lot C falls under Phase 2 of the KLCC project. Development cost is reported at RM1 billion.[1][2]
Construction
Ground breaking has started since late 2006 and finished in February 2009. In January 2009, KLCC Properties Holdings Berhad (KLCCP) awarded a RM665mil contract for the superstructure to Daewoo Engineering and Construction, which began building the top structure in March 2009.[3] The retail mall section is expected to be ready by 2010, followed by the office block component by October 2011.[4][5] The office tower will house 840,000 net lettable square feet (78,000 square metres) of office space, while the retail portion of the building will measure 140,000 square feet (13,000 m2) (13,000 square metres). The development will also feature an underground tunnel link to the adjacent Lot D1, KLCC for future development.[6]
